Education is the means by which we acquire skills to assist our survival in the living world.  The Greco-Roman philosophies then later the Prussian model, still undergirding the public school system, has been oriented towards mass, social order and requires individual compromise to benefit the whole.  If the individual wishes to develop specialized craftsmanship, they must seek out a master and become their apprentice.  THIS personalized interaction is what Lesson 1 Private Music Instruction provides.  Although there may now be free instruction available via Youtube, Google and other such apps, what can never be replaced is the relationship that is built between two human beings.  

 

At Lesson 1 Studios, our instructors have all been solely immersed in music and cover a complete range of knowledge to serve the specialized interests of all interested in learning the craft in pursuit of earning the elite title of “Artist”.  We will succeed where public institutions falter:  we will work with the individual to assist the discovery of their own direction, thus walking WITH the student towards the realization of personal fulfillment.  

 

Education need not end in certification to validate the process of learning.  We at L1 believe that time-dependent learning motivates one only toward receiving the terminal certificate and results in superficial reward.  When committing to the master-apprenticeship model, there is no graduation, only the obsession to discover deeper levels of understanding.  This is the same commitment that L1 instructors have:  an insatiable drive to peel away the onion and find details yet unconsidered.
